Wrench in the Gears

Just when I thought the timing was right to finally get things underway for this year, it looks like I'm going to have to hold off again. For one, some unexpected hardware problems have made it necessary to purchase a new hard drive and monitor within a few weeks of each other, which has seriously cut into my prize budget. Of even bigger significance, though, is that I'm likely going to be heading out of the country for a few weeks in November to attend my grandfather's re-burial. Thus, I think it's best to put the Sonic contest on hold for the time being.

Please accept my apologies for all the delays and any inconvenience caused. Rest assured that I WILL have this thing when time and finances permit, even if it has to be in 2009. Your patience in the meantime is, as always, much appreciated!

I'm Alive!

Doesn't look like I'll be making it to the convention this year after all, unfortunately, but otherwise things seem to be on track. After this week I'll be finished with school (YAY!) and should have a decent stretch of free time, so hopefully I'll be able to get this show on the road before summer ends. My main concern at this point is finances; if I don't feel I can offer enough decent prizes, I'll hold off on things until I can save up some extra cash. Either way, though, I'll try not to delay any later than October. I want it to take place this year, lol!

Those of you who have been following, thanks much for your patience and support! Look for the contest-specific blog to debut pretty soon!

Otakon!

It's looking much more certain that I'll make it to Otakon this year! Since it's a particularly special occasion, I plan to cosplay as Tifa from Final Fantasy 7 (Advent Children style). I already have the hair for it, lol!

Since the convention is going to take place from August 8 - 10, and I want to advertise the contest while I'm there, it looks like the best time to hold the contest will be either right after Otakon or even overlapping it. There are two major concerns, however; the first one is that there will be too much going on during and/or right after the convention for me to properly keep up with things here. The other concern is that, if I start the contest too late, most potential entrants will have already started the new school year and will be too occupied to participate. Certainly the latter takes priority...and, well, being unavailable for a few days in the midst of things wouldn't be that big of a deal, right?

So, those of you who are currently students, when does your new (fall) term begin? Please post the date if you know it, and I'll take this info into consideration when deciding on the contest timeframe. Thanks much!

Timeframe for 2008 Contest

This year's contest is starting to take shape, if only in my mind, lol! With my current schedule and the way things are looking for the rest of 2008, I'm estimating that the event will be held somewhere around September. (I'm hoping to be able to attend this year's Otakon convention; if so, I'll see about depositing some ads there!) Assuming all goes as planned, I'll be starting up the contest-specific blog by August, in which its subject game series will be announced so that you can start practicing if you wish. If anything changes, I'll be sure to post a notice. Can hardly wait! ^^
